twistism
Twistism is a program we’ve wrote for the iPhone, aiming at being the de-facto anagram game of its type. Whether we’ve achieved that yet, is up to our users to decide. However everyone that’s tested it for us hasn’t been able to put it down, which I choose to take as a good sign. (Maybe they were just hiding behind the iPhone so as not to tell me what they really thought?)
The aim of the game is to make as many words from the given letters as possible. There are spaces for all the words that it is possible to make, and these are filled in as you figure them out. The words are grouped by word length, then listed in alphabetical order.
Unlike a lot of games of this type, twistism allows you to play different word lengths. The standard game is three to six letters, but with twistism you can play with anagrams up to nine letters long! The games are generated from an internal dictionary, which contains most of the words in the dictionary. What this means is virtually limitless puzzles.
However to make things easier, there is an easy mode which contains the 1500 most-common words in the English language, and a medium mode which contains the next 4500 most-common words. If you want to learn some new words, I suggest you try it on difficult.
Which version of English are you using, American or British?
Also are the ’solved’ words listed in alphabetical order?
Thank you.

I was going to originally let the user decide which one of these dictionaries to use. However the differences between English and American English are minimal, so I have combined the two.
However if users express an interest in, we will allow them to choose between the two.
Yes, they are in alphabetical order! I play txtwist a lot and being in the correct order is crucial.
cheers
